HRH the Prince of
Wales has announced new grants of £560,000 to help boost British farmers and
rural communities.
The awards bring the
total amount of grants awarded in the three years since the Prince launched the
fund to £3.3 million. During this time more than 75 projects and 55,000 people
across the UK have been supported.
The new grants will
provide training to improve job prospects for unemployed rural young people,
encourage economically efficient farm practices, boost farming businesses,
improve low farming incomes, and halt the decline of rural communities.
The Prince's
Countryside Fund has been established to support the sustainability and
protection of farms and rural communities throughout the UK. Funding support
over a maximum of three years is available for projects that provide
significant public benefit and meet the objectives and focus of the Fund.
The objectives of the
Fund are to:

provision in rural areas.

businesses.
