Postcode Dream Fund

THE POSTCODE DREAM FUND - Three or four large grants up to £1 million available to give British charities the chance to deliver the project they have always dreamed of, but never had the opportunity to bring to life (application deadline 31 August 2018)
The Postcode Dream Fund is intended to give organisations the chance to deliver the project they have always dreamed of, but never had the opportunity to bring to life. Projects must be innovative, creative and original, and be a genuine 'dream'. General running costs including ongoing staff costs, utility bills, council tax, rent and insurance that are directly linked with the project are eligible for funding. Costs relating to PR and communications and capital costs are eligible for funding.
Projects must have been developed to a point where they are ready to execute within four weeks of receiving notification of a successful application. Projects must also be able to show visible results after 12 months.
The funding pot for 2019 is £3 million, from which three or four large grants of between £500,000 and £1,000,000 will be awarded.  Projects must be delivered between 2019 and 2021.
Successful applicants will receive 50% of funding upfront, and the remaining 50% after six months.
The  funding priorities for 2019-2021 are:
1. Changing lives through early intervention;
2. Ending loneliness and social isolation;
3. Protecting Britain’s biodiversity;
4. Sustainable systems change; and
5, Transforming society through sport.
Applications for projects that do not meet one of the funding priorities will also be considered as long as they meet the general funding criteria.
All applications must come from charities in Scotland, England or Wales for projects to be run in these regions. Not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to collaborate to deliver a more effective and wide ranging project.
PLEASE NOTE: all applications must come from at least two organisations. The following conditions apply:
o One of these organisations must be a registered charity, who will be considered the lead organisation for the project and will enter into a contractual relationship with the Trust in order to deliver the project. The main grant contact must be with this organisation;
o The supporting partners can be charities, voluntary groups, community interest companies, universities or other not-for-profit organisations; and
o The lead partner in any application must have an annual income that is at least two times the grant amount applied for (for example, if applying for £500,000 then the lead applicant must have an income of at least £1 million and if applying for £1 million then the lead applicant must have an income of at least £2 million as evidenced by their latest audited accounts).
The following are not eligible for funding:
o Local authorities, city councils or government/statutory bodies;
o Schools;
o Hospitals;
o For-profit businesses;
o Charities who apply without any partners;
o Grant giving bodies who wish to distribute the funds to other organisations;
o Charities applying for projects where the beneficiaries reside overseas;
o Projects that take place overseas;
o Projects where the funding will not be spent within 24 months;
o Projects where the amount requested is less than £500,000;
o Projects where the amount requested is more than £1 million;
o Projects that are not innovative and do not represent a ‘dream’; and
o Projects that do not demonstrate a long-term impact beyond the duration of funding.
The deadline for Stage 1 applications is 5.30pm on Friday 31 August 2018.
The Fund has a three stage application process:
o Stage 1 - a one-page application form should be completed online at the Fund's website. Applicants will be informed of their progress by email within two weeks of the deadline;
o Stage 2 - shortlisted applicants will be asked to apply via a formal online application form;
o Stage 3 - shortlisted applicants from stage 2 will be asked to attend the Trust's offices in Edinburgh to give a formal presentation on their project to the judges.
The winning projects will be announced in January 2019.
