Attention all community groups in Newtown!!

Household Energy Service - Community Energy Dividends

From October 2010, all kinds of community groups and other fund raising organisations in Newtown area are invited to qualify for cash awards through the Community Energy Dividend (CED) scheme, run by the Household Energy Service (HES).

HES is a local, award winning Community Enterprise presenting FREE independent professional advice to individual households, helping people conserve energy, keep warm, cut carbon and save money. HES trains local volunteers to help their own friends and neighbours in their community. HES surveys collect relevant infromation about their home, energy and transport use. Free of charge, a professionally prepared HES energy report is then sent to each household surveyed, containing specific advice and recommendations, to help people make positive changes.

Community Energy Dividends awards work in two ways:
  • individual awards - enable volunteers to earn awards for their chosen good cause
  • partnership awards - enabling community groups to nominate themselves to earn awards
Individual awards - volunteers coming forward for training as HES surveyors can earn Community Energy Dividend Awards - worth £10 - for every HES survey they conduct before the end of March 2011. This will be payable direct to the organisation of their choice, as agreed with HES.

Partnership awards - community groups keen to raise funds for themselves are encouraged to apply for a HES Community Energy Dividend Partnership Award, of between £100 and £250, for actively promoting HES through their member / supporter networks, and for also putting forward candidates for free HES surveys. Maximum awards may be earned where one or more supporters voluntarily undertake HES training and conduct surveys.

PLEASE NOTE - this funding is only available until the end of March 2011, and for surveys within a 10 mile radius of Newtown.
