Grants available to develop grassroots sport throughout Powys

Sports and physical activity groups in Powys are being urged to take advantage of a grant worth up to £1,500 to help contribute to creating thriving clubs which will continue to create opportunities through good enterprise and innovation.
In addition, clubs and organisations have the opportunity to apply for an additional £1500 to target the following key areas:
- Better preparing clubs to cater for interest generated via 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and to prepare for demand leading up to Glasgow 2014 and beyond;
- Tackling inequality: black and ethnic minority (BME), disability (inclusion), women and girls, social inclusion.
The grants are available through the Sportlot Community Chest, the Sports Council for Wales National Lottery funded grant aid scheme, which is designed to make a difference to sport and physical activity locally.
With £100,000 available for this financial year, Powys County Council are urging organisations to submit applications so they don’t miss out on the grant.
The next deadline for applications is Thursday 28 March. For further information or an application form please contact the council’s Sport Development Team on 01686 614060 or email angela.williams@powys.gov.uk
Alternatively application forms can be downloaded from the Sport Wales website: www.sportwales.org.uk
