Post Office Diversification Fund Open

The Post Office Diversification Fund (PODF) for Wales has re-opened to applications for the first 2013 round.
The objectives of the Fund are to:
  • Support the maintenance of a viable Post Office network across Wales.
  • Ensure deprived and/or isolated communities in Wales have access to a Post Office branch and other community facilities.
  • Improve the viability and sustainability of Post Offices by increasing the services provided to local communities and supporting links with other community businesses and facilities.
There are currently two funding streams available under the PODF, comprising a small capital improvement grant scheme providing grants up to £5,000 and a larger capital diversification grant scheme providing grants of between £5,000 and £20,000.
Structural Improvements Strand
Applications can be made for capital funding for cosmetic improvements to post offices eg improved counters, signage, aesthetic improvements etc which are not funded by Post Office Ltd.

Applications can be made to improve and diversify the retail business attached to the post office, with emphasis on new services provided by the sub-postmaster (which are separate to the post office), especially services of benefit to the local community. Non-commercial services which encourage increased footfall could also be considered.
The following activities can be supported:

  • Work that supports other benefits to the local community.
The Fund is open to all sub-Post Offices in Wales. Priority is given to applicants whose branches serve a deprived and/or isolated community and are able to demonstrate the high social value of the Post Office branch business.
