Small charities can enter a
competition to win the opportunity to have their fundraising message promoted
to eBay shoppers as they checkout on the site. To be eligible, charities must
have an annual turnover of less than £1.5 million.
The eBay Give at Checkout feature allows
shoppers to make a small donation to a charity when they are purchasing an
item. In 2012 eBay buyers donated over £17,000 to the winners of this
competition.
The competition, which is now
in its third year, is run as part of Small Charity Week 2013. Organisers
the FSI have joined forces with eBay for Charity to offer five small charities
the chance to benefit from this promotion.
How to enter
Small charities should submit a 90-character
fundraising message
that they would like to see publicised on eBay. The deadline is 29 May 2013.
Lorin May, Head of Charity and
Sustainability, eBay Europe said: "eBay for Charity allows charities of
any size, large and small, to raise unrestricted funds via donations from eBay
users or charities’ own trading. To date more than £48 million has been
raised for over 7,500 organisations, and we look forward to working with more
small charities to help them use eBay to fundraise."
