THE W. G. EDWARDS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION – Grants up to £3,000 for registered charities providing care for older people aged 65 and over within the UK

The W G Edwards Charitable Foundation provides small grants for projects that support people who are over 65 years of age within the following categories:
1. Health and welfare - grants are for the refurbishment of residential care housing for the elderly and for building projects which are nearing completion. Consideration will also be given to the provision of equipment to enhance care and improve quality of life; and
2. Community and innovation - grants for community initiatives such as exercise classes for the over 65's, lunch clubs, horticultural therapy and day trips. Consideration will also be given to technology projects aimed at benefiting the over 65's.
Please noteif an applicant provides services  for  a mixed age group of beneficiaries, the Foundation will consider a donation if approximately 80% are over the age of 65.
UK registered charities based and working within the UK may apply for a grant of between £1,000 and £3,000. The average grant award is £1,700.  The Foundation normally awards around 70 grants each year.
There is no requirement for match funding.
The Foundation prefers to support a wide range of charities, from large institutions to small community-run organisations. However, the annual turnover of charities applying to the Foundation must be under £100,000.
Funding is not available for:
o Individuals;
o Overseas projects;
o Buying or leasing transport, for example, minibuses;
o Salaries;
o General campaigns;
o Revenue funding, for example, items for everyday use;
o Building projects that are in the planning stages;
o IT which is for the use of administration;
o Retrospective items; or
o Charities that have received a grant from the Foundation within the past 3 years.
Applications may be made at any time in writing following the guidelines available on the Foundation’s website.
 The Foundation meets in January, April, July and November annually to consider applications.
