Grants are available to not-for-profit organisations working with children and their families in Wales.

Objectives of Fund

The Fund was established to relieve hardship, sickness, disability and distress amongst children and young persons in Wales. 
In particular, the purposes for which the fund exists are:
"To further such objects as are exclusively charitable and in particular but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing to relieve need, hardship, sickness, disability and distress amongst children and young persons in Wales."

Value Notes

Awards are generally made between £100 and £5,000. Applications for higher levels of funding may be considered if a proposal has exceptional circumstances.

Match Funding Restrictions

Match funding is not required.

Who Can Apply

The Fund will consider applications from bona fide organisations in Wales, such as voluntary and community groups, registered charities and out-of-school clubs.
The fund supports organisations in order of priority, as follows:
  • Those in the Dioceses of the Church in Wales.
  • Those associated with other Christian bodies which are members of Cytun (Churches together in Wales).
  • Other organisations working with children in Wales.
The fund tends to support small charity requests.

Restrictions

The Fund will not support:
  • Activity that is the provision of Local Education Authorities.
  • Capital expenses.
  • Salary costs.

Eligible Expenditure

Project costs associated with eligible expenditure.
The Fund will support a wide range of activities providing they meet with the scheme's objectives.

How To Apply

The deadlines for submission of applications are 31 March and 31 August of each year.  Trustees meet to consider applications in April and September.
Application forms are availble from the Church in Wales website.
Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application as soon as possible after the meeting. 
When considering and assessing applications the Trustees will carefully consider the following:
  • Is the application form completed correctly?
  • It is clear what the applicant is seeking?
  • Is it clear what the outcome of the proposed project will be if the applicant is successful?
  • Has the applicant provided evidence to support specific claims?
  • Are the budget figures accurate?
  • What previous experience does the applicant have of being involved in or running similar projects?
Grant awards will be made available to successful applicants (subject to agreement to the terms and conditions of grant) by the end of the month following that of the meeting (May or October as appropriate).
