Playing Fields Legacy Fund

Description

Grants are available to not-for-profit voluntary groups, organisations and clubs that run or manage community playing fields in Great Britain, so their pitches and facilities can be revived and well used and thus result in more people taking part in outdoor sport.

Objectives of Fund

The aim of the fund is to get more people, especially the young and disadvantaged, playing outdoor sport through more effective use of playing fields.
The fund provides seed-corn grants to unlock funding from other sources.

Value Notes

The maximum grant amount is normally £10,000 in any 12-month period.

Match Funding Restrictions

Applicants are expected to secure a major percentage of the total eligible project costs from other sources. They are ‘strongly urged’ to involve local businesses and other funding partners.
The partnership funding can include in-kind contributions.

Who Can Apply

Applications will be accepted from the following legally constituted not-for-profit organisations:
  • County Playing Field Associations.
  • Voluntary sector sports clubs.
  • Parish Councils and Town Councils.
  • Registered charitable organisations.
  • Unincorporated not-for-profit organisations.
  • Industrial and Provident Societies (also known as Registered Societies).
  • Local authorities.
