Sobell Foundation

The Sobell Foundation is a Somerset based Charitable Trust that awards grants for charities working in the following areas:
• Care for physically and mentally disabled adults and children.
• Education and training for adults and children with physical and learning disabilities.
• Care and support of the elderly.
• Care and support for children.
• Homelessness.
• Medical care and treatment, including respite care and hospices.
• Immigrant absorption (Israel only).
• Co-existence projects (Israel only).
• Higher education (Israel only).
The Trustees aim to achieve a reasonable spread between Jewish charities (operating principally in the UK and Israel) and non-Jewish charities operating in the UK.
The Foundation concentrates its grant funding on small national or local charities - the Trustees are unlikely to support large national charities that enjoy wide support.
During the financial year ending 5 April 2014 the Foundation awarded grants totalling £4,195,166 to 472 charities. The average award was just under £9,000.
The Foundation will not accept applications from individuals.
Applicants should complete the online application form and post to the Foundation with the following information:
• Summary income and expenditure budget for the current year.
• Most recent annual accounts.
• Most recent annual reports.
Applications may be submitted at ant time. However, organisations may not re-apply within twelve months of a previous application.
